Joseph Brodsky - Pilgrims | Poetry
I'm reading Joseph Brodsky's poem "Pilgrims" to the music E's Jammy Jams - Calcutta Sunset.
In the poem "Pilgrims" Joseph Brodsky touches on the themes of eternity and infinity of the world, as well as the ephemerality of human existence. Pilgrims, the main characters of the work, symbolize the search for the meaning of life and disappointment in it. They pass by various places and events that personify various aspects of human life, everyday life and culture, but all this turns out to be transitory and does not bring true satisfaction.
The world remains unchanged and eternal, despite all human efforts to change it or put meaning into it. The pilgrims realize that their search is in vain, and that the only thing left is to simply continue on their way, despite all the difficulties and disappointments, which is generally inherent in the ancient philosophy of Stoicism. "Do what you must, and come what may!" (c) Marcus Aurelius
We should accept the world as it is and not try to change what cannot be changed. It is important to learn to find joy and satisfaction in simple things, to appreciate the moments of the present and not to lose hope, despite all the difficulties and disappointments. If you cannot change the world, change your attitude towards this world. (c) Seneca
