In this Mets post game news conference, Justin Verlander called his five-inning, 100 pitch performance on Monday night, "a bit of a grind." He talked about changing his mechanics by "lowering my arm slot a bit, thought my stuff was better as my mechanics set in." Verlander felt he had lost some of his deception on the mound and a change was necessary. He was "caught off guard" by a pitch clock violation prior to the third inning. The veteran righthander said of the team's rough stretch, "Don't think anyone saw this coming, disappointing for us and the fans."
