• Steve Kerr postgame Game 6, on the energy level from the start: “The Kings were the aggressor… we didn’t execute… 4 or 5 plays… took quick shots or didn’t pass to the open guy… at halftime we had 8 assists… they earned the victory.”
• On the Kings going smaller: “they had momentum already… our being in a rush… didn’t feel great (even after Q1)… they were getting better shots… great adjustment by Mike to go small… more space… 17 threes, I don’t think they’ve made that many in the series… that was their big move tonight.”
• On Poole’s struggles: “Jordan never really got going… frustrated… poor night for all of us, including me. We always say we win together, we lose together… the Kings… deserved the win.”
• On the disappointment level: “Everybody’s down… we’ve won a Game 7 on the road before… fill up the cup and get our energy ready for Sunday afternoon.”
• On what was wrong with locking in: “I talked before the game there’s a different energy to every game… I talked to the team I would expect a different Sacramento team… looser… be ready, these guys are coming after us. They just outplayed us. This is the NBA… they came in and won the game.”
• On if there’s a concern there’s less than 48 hours before Game 7: “…none of that matters. The only thing that matters is going out there and doing it… make sure that we’re the team that has that on Sunday.”
• On Monk and Fox: “That was part of their strategy going small… we didn’t respond very well. Our defense was not very sound. We’ll watch the tape.”
• On if Draymond’s foul trouble was an issue: “I felt good going into halftime down 7… make an impact in the second half. We withstood his foul trouble… but never found a rhythm.”
• On not taking care of the ball and rebounding: “Well, that’s the series… they earned that with their defense and we did not execute… we paid the price.”
