In this keynote from the Digital Developer Conference: Data & AI 2021 (https://ibm.biz/BdfnU7), Noam Slonim, Distinguished Engineer, IBM Research & AI, will briefly tell the story of Project Debater, from conception to a climactic final event.

Project Debater is the first AI system that can meaningfully debate a human opponent. The system, an IBM Grand Challenge, is designed to build coherent, convincing speeches on its own, as well as provide rebuttals to the opponent's main arguments. In 2019, Project Debater competed against Harish Natarajan, who holds the world record for most debate victories, in an event held in San Francisco that was broadcasted live world-wide.

Have an interest in the latest from IBM Research in the AI space? Want to get your hands on Debater and Data Quality AI APIs? What about thought-provoking discussion on trustworthy AI? Then this is the conference for you. Our goal is to educate, excite, and illuminate with sessions dedicated to automated and federated machine learning, data fabric and DataOps, ModelOps, deep learning, and natural language processing (NLP). Plus, highlight open source technologies and career experiences—so whether you're a beginner or an expert—you can gain interesting perspectives for your next career move or community contribution.

Learn industry-recognized data and AI skills from IBM experts, partners, and the worldwide community. Hands-on experiences, IBM client stories, best practices, and more.
