KID TIME | littles in DID/OSDD
hey can you run that last thing by me again real quick
A lot of people with DID/OSDD have what are known as "littles", or child alters. These alters are essentially stuck in time, having never gotten the chance to develop past a certain age. They may hold trauma from that age, or may have split off as a way to preserve or box-off child-like behaviors that were not conductive to surviving, or any other number of reasons.
A lot of people with these disorders did not have great childhoods. Because of that, people with DID/OSDD tend to keep their children very close to their chest in order to protect them. In a sense, having and taking care of child alters can be a way to re-parent yourself.
We love our kids very much, and want to protect them and make them as happy as possible. I originally had no intention of showing any of my kids on my channel at all. The only reason this video exists is because one of our kids was upset about the lack of content about littles in systems and the fact that they felt alone in being a little. This one goes out to you, hun.
Some things have been redacted for the sake of privacy and safety. I have no intention of revealing my littles' names. I will pass on any kind comments to them, but they're all going through me and our protectors first.
To other systems' littles: I see you guys! Make sure to stay safe in the comments, alright? Don't reveal anything too personal or I'll delete it for your own safety. If your system feels comfortable with your name being out there, that's okay to share!
Also, since I know "injuries in headspace" is a topic of debate for some reason: Injuries in our headspace are symbolic. They often represent trauma, overwhelming emotions, or fear. If a kid is scared of getting a papercut, they'll get a papercut because they're scared of it and thinking about it. That's part of why the first step the kids take to help each other is to calm each other down ("It's okay, it's just scary") and then they're able to "heal" the injury by simply wishing it away. For the kids, the easiest way to do this is by kissing it better. I've witnessed kids taking horrible falls and then bouncing right back up without a scratch simply because they straight up don't care, but some kids are more fragile and need that reassurance. Why does it work like that? I don't know, I just live with it.
