The first time I (or anyone as far as I know) successfully killed Tiamat with a single boomerang throw. I got it in a real run half an hour later on stream. (Here's that run: https://youtu.be/i0pPaHHFqzA)
The first throw is from a specific distance so that the boomerang stunlocks Tiamat on its way back. (More info on Tiamat stunlock here: https://youtu.be/ayOiIcFt9ZA)
The second rope is there to dodge Tiamat's red orb. After it's gone, you can dodge just by standing on her shoulder (although using the rope makes it easier).
