A playthrough of Acclaim's 1996 fighting game (and sequel to the Saturn fighter Battle Monsters), Killing Zone.

Played through as Rerner, the P1 Gorgon character, on the default difficulty level. Oddly enough, the characters names change depending of if you play as first or second player. That's why the character bios only identify them as types (all of the bios are shown at the end of the video) rather than as individually named characters. It doesn't change anything but the name, but still, it's a neat touch.

This is an interesting game that leaves me conflicted. I like it: it's got some neat designs and some pretty good graphic effects, and it's the sequel to the awesome Saturn game Battle Monsters, but it feels unfinished. There are a load of moves, but they all do about the same thing; the controls have a really bizarre lag time, though the lag seems to depend on the fighter you're using; and the Auto mode is pretty useless and makes no sense, even when you understand it.

Beyond that, if you can overlook it's really apparent need of a few more months spent in development, there is some fun to be had here. It's corny, it's goofy, and you can bash buttons and do nearly as well as if you know the actual moves. Ring outs are pretty easy to get on this one.

There is a short pieced together clip of all of the attract mode character bios at the end of the video.
