Killzone Shadow Fall - Episode 11 (For Kellen) | Ending + Review
0This game didn't live up to my expectations when I read about how many sales it had. I was expecting a fun experience but instead I found myself in a digital torture device that I don't even know how I made it through. The difficulty of this game is infamous but I didn't find that information in time when I was researching this game before playing. I usually only search about how lengthy the game is and its genre and this time it cost me years of my life. There a lot of instances where I wanted to RAGE QUIT so bad but something happened to keep me going. In mission 2 I wanted to drop the game because the difficulty spike is ridiculous but I felt like an idiot on dropping the game on the first real mission. In mission 6 I wanted to drop the game on the 2 guard section because Echo's instructions weren't clear at all but through trial and error I pushed through, although the enemies' line of sight is absolutely ludicrous. In mission 7 I wanted to drop the game on every part of it: the free fall, the fight on a barricade where you have useless allies and fucking Massar escort mission. In mission 8 I wanted to drop the game again on the free fall and on the shoot-the-purple-thingies section but right when I was on the verge of giving up, I somehow made it through. The entirety of Mission 9 had me lose my will to live: getting to Tyran, killing Tyran and making it to the final cutscene.
And the worst part? Although I managed to somehow beat it without ripping my hair out or popping a vein, I didn't feel at any point enjoyment or a sense of achievement. Even when I killed off Tyran, I just the knew game wasn't done with its bullshit because this game had been feeding it since mission 2.
The major flaw this game has is lack of balance: the weapons are not balanced, you are 1 weakling army versus a gazillian of respawning enemies and your OWL isn't enough of a buddy to equalize things up.
