This recording is from the PC version of the game. My first experience with this game was on the XBox 360, courtesy of the Frederick County Public Library system of Maryland. I was leery of the game's notoriously easy difficulty level, so I chose to handicap myself a little. I played on the hardest difficulty level, and did not accept any HP upgrades. If the game became too easy, I would remove armor.

Thankfully, the game turned out to be enjoyable enough for me to purchase the 360 and PC versions of this title.

PROS
[+] Very good combat. Melee and projectile attacks are mostly viable for all weapon and spell types, without being too easily abused. Some enemy mobs are dangerous enough on the highest difficuty level to require light tactical decision-making on the player's part. Dodging and cancelling your combo attacks will help you get past tougher enemies.

[+] Several helpful interface features make lootgathering and questing more manageable than games like Skyrim. Multiple waypoints can be selected via Active Quest selection. Inventory management is helped immensely by one-button junkgathering and junkselling. Gathered loot is easily compared to the gear you wear.

[+] Loot model is reasonably generous.

[+] Very colorful visuals with fluid animation.

CONS
[-] Combat only allows one or two types of attack per weapon, tops. Beyond the basic 3- or 4-hit combo and a charged attack, there are no variations to weapon attacks.

[-] Combat on lower difficulty levels is too easy, since enemies are constantly stunned by your basic attacks and never really fight back. (On the highest level, stunlocks are much shorter.)

[-] The early areas of the game are mostly claustrophobic: a series of caves and tree-lined corridors.

[-] Maps only allow one custom waypoint. Players maybe be able to manipulate the Active Quest in order to juggle two waypoints, however.

[-] Exploration is far more two-dimensional than Skyrim. Hills and mountains can only be scaled via designated points on the map. It makes the exploration less dangerous in vertical areas (since you can't die by falling), but means travel options are more limited.

[-] The story is mostly a forgettable jumble of lore and characters that are far from compelling.

[-] Music is so subdued, it's almost nonexistent.
