Short description:
"U by my side" is basically the "Ridin' With U" lyrics adapted into the "i DO what i WANT" music... so I guess you could kind of think of it like a "What if KIRA had written RWU with iDwiW's music in mind?" sort of thing. Or something like that. ^^

Longer description:
This one was... interesting. It kind of started out as a "heh, I wonder if that'd actually be possible" sort of idea, and grew from there...
Basically, at some point last year, I happened to notice some minor style and content similarities between KIRA's "i DO what i WANT" and "Ridin' With U"... and just for fun, I started toying with the idea of moving bits of lyrics from one song to the other...
...and almost immediately realized that "can't trust no one, can't trust no one" could fairly easily be adapted into "they don't know me, know me, know me, 'cause..." Which of course got me extremely curious about the rest of the song, so... ^^
Of course, the rest of the song didn't adapt quite as instantly and easily... but overall, the process actually went smoother than I would've expected, given that they're two very different sorts of songs. ^^;
Anyway... it took a lot of work... and as usual, there are still one or two spots that could probably be polished up a bit more... but overall, I'm pretty happy with how these lyrics turned out... and hope you will be as well!

...and for those of you who are still reading, here are a couple bits of extra info. ^^
- When I first started working on these lyrics, I wasn't quite sure how I was going to handle the self-identification line at the end... but then "Machine Gun" came to mind. =) Of course, most of MG probably wouldn't work well with a "let's get away into the blue" sort of song... but the "GUMI" line by itself... definitely could. So I tried adapting it into the song... and it worked! And as an additional bonus, it also suggested a pretty good title for the song. =)
- "wherever we go, we go" is actually one of my favorite lines in the song. I really liked the way it wasn't just a repetition, but it was actually a phrase with meaning... like "que sera, sera" ("whatever will be, will be"). Or even "when I come through, I come through like a..." =)
