Kirby: Squeak Squad: Jam Jungle Perfect Run
This stage ... Where do I even begin? How about the boss, since the stage doesn't have anything particularly noteworthy about it. The boss Yadogaine is an example of how not to design a boss in a video game, much less Kirby. This fiendish contraption from the whiskers of Doc can spray blocks at you, drop rocks from the ceiling including at the edge of the screen, and can fire a laser low to the ground. And he can do all of this at once, with no tells for where he'll drop the rocks or when he'll fire the laser, nor any safespots. It's all luck based, or in another term: Artificial difficulty. I cannot stand artificial difficulty in Kirby games, because if not for the lack of tells, Yadogaine would be a very easy boss.
All of my failures made it rather difficult to figure out how I would rate the stage at first, but I feel comfortable with the rating I ended up with. With that, this stage is finally behind us and we can move on. Hopefully the rest of the game will go more smoothly.
