Weimar is the brand new German premium Tier VII light cruiser armed with twelve 150 mm guns. Weimar as described in game is a variant of cruiser Yorck with a different artillery composition but in my opinion comes closer to the other tier 7 german premium cruiser Munchen. The Weimar's main armament of twelve 150mm guns benefits greatly from the improved HE penetration that German shells enjoy, allowing her to penetrate up to 38mm of armor without hurting her fire chance through the usage of IFHE. This gives Weimar better usability as a captain trainer, requiring no specific build. The Alpha damage and fire chance also follow the rules of German shells, being below average, making Weimar unable to deal large Alpha strikes with these shells. Her AP shells come with a decent AP penetration and improved AP shell damage, making them lethal shells to use against cruisers and battleships with thinner extremities that show enough side. In terms of survivability Weimar comes with several downsides compared to Yorck. The 16mm fore and aft armor make her more vulnerable against battleship caliber shells and smaller HE shells, which means that Weimar would do best to avoid getting hit in the first place. Personally I've enjoyed playing the Weimar especially during testing as especially early on it had even a better reload speed and more range but it was brokenly overpowered, after quite a long balancing period it endured several changes to both its reload and range but I must admit it still feels pretty good. The guns are fun, it has a nice mix of consumables, the trick is staying alive and if you are fortunate enough to have the Gunther Lutjens captain it can be a real blast. Does it bring something new to the game well not exactly but the German cruisers are very popular in general so I expect the Weimar to be popular too, if you are a fan of the Konigsberg, Nurmberg Munchen style of gameplay then the Weimar could be for you.
The Weimar will be available in the premium store and the cheapest option in the armory will be for 8,800 doubloons.
