Knight of Lodis' Cool Emblem System Was Neat
From the outside looking in, it may not be clear why I love this mechanic so much, so let me explain. Character improvement in this genre is almost always different from game to game. Stats are boring, dialogue choice perks can be too predictable, and baked in perks are kinda just ok.
What this system does is that it combines the class unlocks of stats, the instant "I know what this guy's about" factor of a perk list, but also makes it a fun achievement system. At the same time, a bunch of these are actually debuffs and not perks as slaps on the wrist for playing like a goon. It's brilliant to see those cases where a clearly dumb character may be a tough fight, but still earned Don Quixote at some point.
Slight correction, while the emblem is needed, Alphonse needs to have 50 personal kills and fewer than 10 soldiers lost, on Route A, and have Elenor alive in the last fight. It's not just by itself, but it's a fantastic way to show what he's becoming going down that road.
