Dad Devices: a Switch Lite, Steam Deck, PS Vita, PSP, and 3DS Ramble About Weird Things
31I was asked to do a more hands on comparison thing after the last Dad Devices tier list, and this is that. Us dad sorts need more nimble or role compressed devices sometimes. These also come with weird considerations, like stick clearance and such.
Also, I didn't want to cover it in this one, but technically there is a way I was theorizing to make your own sort of "plastic ring" effect on the Lite. when I was fixing up one of my Vita projects, it has damaged rubber, and I'd used WD40 to sort of stiffen it back together. It...somewhat melts it when rubbed gently. I was considering using that to try and melt the ridges using a test controller, but haven't gotten around to it due to life stuff.
As I always mention, but forgot to mention this time, phones are deliberately left out, due to not wanting to burn their battery for games. A power bank helps, but even with mine being on a charger whenever driving, I still regularly see it drain uncomfortably low before games even start due to needing it for a lot of things.
