KOF 98 UMFE - 7 Combos That Are Harder Than They Seem
Combos performed by Raptor Sentry
The combos are in order of difficulty:
1.) Iori - This is the easiest one as linking 2B, 2A~6A into Maiden Masher doesn't take up too much time to learn. Some may struggle with what feels like a sudden shift in tempo, but give it time, compared to a lot of other combos, it doesn't demand too much.
2.) EX Robert - This is actually pretty easy to do on Chang. However, it's possible to do it against smaller characters, but will require proper timing to catch the airborne opponent with 6B. If you were to pause the video at when it connects against Billy, the collision appears to happen right below the foot. If you hit the opponent any higher than that, the super will whiff. Without this knowledge, it's natural for one to assume that this only works on Chang. Note: Although Rambu will only connect in the corner, you can connect with fireball super instead from anywhere else, but the above still applies.
3.) Heavy D - Some might struggle with this combo, specifically those who are used to modern fighters allowing rapid firing/mashing together weak attacks. Trying to do the same in old skool KOF games will not work out - they require manual linking. Linking multiple 2B's with Heavy D isn't difficult as the quick tap rhythm is easy to pick up on. Chang was used as the dummy to showcase how many you can get away with.
4.) Takuma - The proper rhythm for this one involves more care and attention to tap timing than Heavy D's. There is a significant micro pause in timing between cl.A and 2B, if you're a pixel off with your timing, 2B, 2A will not connect, so this is definitely one where the tempo change up will take time to get used to. This string, and other variations, are required to learn when playing Takuma.
5.) Kyo - This one is a very good example of how the game can be painfully strict with linking together weak attacks, emphasis on *strict* as, due to the stiff response time with his weak attacks, it's more challenging with Kyo. Not only is manual tapping required, but you need to get the timing down to where the normals come out at their earliest available window in order to ensure that everything connects.
6 and 7.) Krauser - He arguably has the most visually deceiving combos. They may look simple and straightforward, but there's intense linking going on in the background, plus cancelling 2C into Kaiser Wave can be an already daunting task for some.
