This is one of my favourite pieces to play. Made "famous" in more popular culture thanks to being featured in the anime "Your Lie In April".

It's originally piece for violin, accompanied by piano, written by Kreisler but Rachmaninoff made a piano solo transcription of it, completely changing it really. The original is a slightly melancholic, simple waltz-like piece. This version isn't simple at all - Rachmaninoff changed the harmonies a lot, adding many voice layers and plenty of chromaticism. The result is that this new version has lots of potential for expressive freedom, and you can really play it "the way you like".
