KSP Why is Landing on the Mun this Way More Efficient? I conduct an experiment to find out whether landing on the mun from a lower or higher orbit is more efficient. At the end I show the data. This combined with a "hoverslam" burn will result in a couple hundred m/s of extra delta v.
The reason for which a higher orbit results in delta v losses is because of the longer interaction with gravity.
