In "The Woman of the Snow," a young woodcutter encounters a mysterious snow spirit while seeking shelter during a blizzard. The spirit, initially threatening, spares his life on one condition, leading to a haunting and romantic tale of love and sacrifice.
The third story, "Hoichi the Earless," revolves around a blind biwa (a traditional Japanese lute) player who finds himself entangled with vengeful spirits. The final segment, "In a Cup of Tea," involves a writer who discovers an enigmatic face in his tea. This encounter leads him into a mysterious world where he encounters a ghostly presence, blurring the boundaries between reality and the supernatural.
Throughout "Kwaidan," striking visuals, atmospheric cinematography, and a haunting musical score enhance the eerie and otherworldly nature of each story.
