L.A. Noire is an action-adventure neo-noir detective crime thriller takes place in the city of Los Angeles, in the year 1947, with players assuming the role of Los Angeles Police Department officer, and later detective, Cole Phelps.

Players must investigate crime scenes for clues, follow up leads, and interrogate suspects, and the player's success at these activities will impact how much of each case's story is revealed.

The world features multiple landmarks, which are all based on real monuments from 1940s Los Angeles.
