What motivated myself to make this video is that there's another controller lag test video by a person named 2SikTv (Sik Sensei). I watched and liked this video thinking he greatly contributed to the community with this find and shared it with all my friends. It even influenced a few of us to buy wired controllers. After playing with a wired controller I didn't notice a difference. The average human is only able to notice a difference greater than 30 milliseconds but 2SikTv was claiming that there is a difference of 166 milliseconds for the Xbox 360 and 100 milliseconds difference for the PS3. So let me break down our tests.

2SikTv : He taped wires to a controller button that was connected to a camera (capable of 60 fps) facing his TV. When he pressed the button the wires would contact that would cause the camera to start filming. He then counted the frames between from when the camera started filming to the point that the action that button would cause is seen. This is all fine in a way but there is a flaw. The way he ensured the wires were evenly placed on each controller was by "eyeballing" it. Even though the wires looked perfect, and even if he used a ruler, the slightest difference in distance would make a huge difference when measuring something as small as milliseconds.

My Test : My test is far simpler and has less variable to affect my outcome. I used a Panasonic HD camcorder that is capable of filming in 1080p at 60 frames per second progressive (not interlacing). I filmed myself pulling the trigger in front of my monitor with a program that is able to detect the speed at which I pulled the trigger to ensure that each trigger pull tested is the same. I counted the frames from when I pulled the trigger to get my numbers. My test is far more controlled.

So the results from our tests do not agree. For the xbox 360 he's claiming that there is a 166ms difference while my controlled test proved that there is less than a 16.67ms difference. Like I said earlier the average human is able to tell a difference greater than 30ms, so I invite anyone to do their own test. Go into a private match of your favorite FPS that allows split screen or use any fighting game. Have player one use a wired controller and player two use a wireless, press the same button on both controllers at the same time as you watch the screen, you won't be able to tell the difference.

All the conversations I had with xbox and playstation tech support agree with me when I say there is no noticeable difference. Thank you very much for reading my lengthy description and I don't approve of 2SikTv continuing to have his video give the gaming community inaccurate information from a grossly inaccurate test.

The grossly inaccurate test of 2SikTv : http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zgIGpgpgdic
(He also blocked me after I tried leaving two comments for people to perform their own tests, anyone can see theres not 166ms of lag, he is not a very honest person)

Update : Sik Sensei finally realized that his vid was wrong and inaccurate, took it down, thats why the link doesn't work anymore. He also unblocked me and send me a private message asking me to take his name out of this description... The video received over 10k views, over 10,000 people were fed incorrect information that was believable and highly influential to go out and buy wired products based on this false information. After he realized he was wrong he never made an apology video, or an attempt to undo the damage he done. Drift0r made a video about a lag test that he felt was inaccurate after he took his down, Sik Sensei never did address this and I guess wanted to pretend that he never done it... I would've gladly taken any reference to Sik Sensei out of this description if he would've maned up and did what was right.
