Digimon World (デジモンワールド Dejimon Wārudo) a role-playing adventure and digital pet video game for PlayStation (PS) released by Bandai on 28/1/1999 in Japan, North America at May 23, 2000, and PAL at July 6, 2001 for the #PlayStation. It is the first software for PS in the #digitalmonster series, it is the first game in the #DigimonWorld series.
Plot
The storyline focuses on a human who have been digitized to Digi-World in File City on File Island by Jijimon to save the island. #Digimon have been losing their memories and becoming feral and the city has fallen into disarray.
The player who is represented by an nameless young boy however the hero have a name yet, the player must name the character is named Hiro Sazaki/Mameo (マメオ) known in promotional materials for Digimon World: Next Order (2017) as the Black Knit Cap Man (黒いニット帽の男 Kuroi Nitto-bou no Otoko), is to save the island by helping Digimon recover their memory and return to the city.
Game Development
Developer and publisher #Bandai now known as #BandaiNamco Entertainment used an extensive marketing campaign to compete with Nintendo's Pokémon media franchise, specifically the video games Pokémon Red and Blue. A promotional Digimon trading card was offered to the first 100,000 North American purchase the game. The game was officially announced in conjunction with Digimon World 2 in May 2000, before either's release.
