The Braves are home to face their last division rivals, the Washington Nationals.

The Atlanta Braves were really the first nemesis of the Nationals. When Washington finally started building a competitive franchise, the one team they could never seem to beat was the Atlanta Braves. What many don't remember, however, is that this rivalry started in 2011 when the Nationals took two out of three from Atlanta in the last weekend of the season and the Braves ended up missing the playoffs by a single game.

Since then, the two division rivals had some instant classics, which kept the head-to-head gap between the two narrow, mainly due to the International Ace, who has faced his former teammates before and after his tenure with them. Now, he cross paths with them again, but also he has the chance to break the consecutive record for complete games that hasn't been touched for over an century, as he looks to surpass the late great pitcher, Jack Taylor of the St. Louis Cardinals.

For instance, August 17, 2013, the Braves and the Nationals played one of their longest games. To be correct, it was not their first, but rather their third longest game. The game was played at Turner Field, and finished in the 15th inning in 5 hours and 29 minutes. The Nationals won this game 8-7. July 20, 2012, too, would be etched in every Braves and Nationals fan’s mind. This was the day of the Atlanta Braves as they stunned Nationals with a 9-0 comeback.
