While Tiger Electronics was probably the most popular manufacturer of these things, they are actually much older than the feline company's licensed product.
LCD Highway Game by Radio Shack release date is unknown. Some sources put it at 1987, others 1990, knowing Radio Shack it was released in 1982 or so and sat in a storage unit somewhere till it was discovered again and put on shelves.
I hope the price tags I have seen at $9 or so are not Radio Shack's price because that would put these at about $20 today. No wonder the Nintendo Game Boy, released for about $210 in 2024 money, steam rolled the competition.
