In Left 4 Dead: Crash Course, the survivors find themselves in a new campaign that bridges the gap between the No Mercy and Death Toll campaigns. The setting starts right after the helicopter crash from the end of No Mercy, leaving the group stranded in a ruined, industrial city.

The atmosphere of Crash Course feels more industrial and gritty compared to the urban cityscapes of previous campaigns. The survivors must navigate through wrecked streets, alleyways, and industrial yards while contending with the infected swarming the city. As they push forward, they reach a final crescendo in the vehicle depot, where the survivors have to start a truck and hold off hordes of zombies in a tense last stand.
