Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword HERO MODE - Part 18
I take on the boss rush mode in order to get the Hylian Shield (after 8 bosses) and the Piece of Heart (after 4 bosses). I use an enhanced Guardian Potion with the Potion Medal so that I am invincible for the first 9 minutes. Then I fight the Imprisoned for the third time. I got pretty lucky for the bosses that were selected since I got a couple of early game bosses that are very easy to defeat with the True Master Sword, I got Imprisoned 3 while my Guardian Potion was still active, and I didn't get Imprisoned 2. For some reason, I became unable to defeat Imprisoned 2 during this challenge.
I also learned about how the boss selection works. Basically, it's not completely random in the sense that the game does *not* select from one of the bosses you haven't fought yet with equal probability to determine your next foe. Rather, the game randomly picks between 3 lists which have the bosses in different orders. This list selection seems to occur after every boss (not just the first one, so even if you know which list was picked for a given fight, that same list will probably not be used to determine the next boss fight). This means that while the order of bosses is not completely predictable, you still tend to get certain bosses around the same time (e.g. I frequently get Ghirahim 1 early on, like within the first 3 fights). This also means that if you want to determine all possible orders, it's very complicated because it's not so simple as saying that 12 bosses means 11! different orders. Note that it's 11! and not 12! because Demise is always first (if you pick him as your first boss) or last (if you pick any other boss first).
Here are some links that explain the boss order randomization (and also it's how I learned about it):
