Legendary Axe II for the TurboGrafx-16 is the sequel to the 1989 action-platformer Legendary Axe, though it’s quite different in tone and gameplay. Unlike the first Legendary Axe, which had a prehistoric barbarian theme, Legendary Axe II has a darker, more medieval-fantasy atmosphere. You play as Ador, a warrior armed with a sword, journeying through various levels filled with demons, traps, and environmental hazards. There’s more emphasis on precision platforming and trap navigation compared to the original’s more straightforward hack-and-slash design. Combat features charge attacks and weapon upgrades, but the pace is slower and more deliberate.
