Walkthrough without cutscenes and commentary

ASCENT TO DOOM

Begin this level by running to the right and smashing the two chained boxes there. Rebuild their pieces into a ramp that Frodo, who cannot jump in this level, can walk across.

On the first river of lava, use Sam's rope to pull down some boulders, creating a pathway for Frodo to cross. Next, climb around the cliff's edge on the rails.

Use the rope again to climb up in front of the dark recess, then stand on the platform floating on the stream of lava. This will raise Frodo up to the ledge with Sam.

Next, use Frodo to light up the dark recess and push the block there to the right, into the river of lava. Now, use Sam to dig up the Lego soil patch where the lava was diverted, and finally, throw the rock at the boulder on the wall to completely clear the lava away.

Avoid the jets of flame coming from the side of the mountain and jump up to the hand-rails on the wall. After the rest of mountain falls into the lava below, walk across the platforms to the other side.

Below the colorful Lego bricks, bash open the gate leading to a dark tunnel, then use Frodo to walk through it to the other side. Next, use Sam's rope to pull down the bridge spanning the next flow of lava.

On the next set of floating platforms, jump up to the left with Sam, allowing Frodo to be lifted up to the ledge. Smash the rocks there and fall down onto the platform Sam last occupied, lifting him up to the ledge now.

Once up on the ledge, jump across and dig up the Lego pieces, then build them into a ramp to the left. Frodo will follow you as you now pull the rope hook on the large protrusion of rock on the right.

Keep heading right and use Sam's rope to climb up to the floating platform on the left. Frodo will already be standing on the other one, and thus be lifted to the narrow ledge against the wall.

On the ground, use Sam to build a platform for Frodo, then push it to the right along the checkered-path. Next, walk through the dark tunnel with Frodo and bash the rocks on the opposite ledge. Next, head through the Small Character Hatch with both characters to reach the lava field.


GOLLUM

Revealing himself to be "tricksy," Gollum will attack you in an attempt to take back the ring. The fight is fairly simply -- just throw the conveniently scattered rocks at him from the opposite side of the field, switching back-and-forth between the two hobbits.


INSIDE MOUNT DOOM

Finally, within Mount Doom itself, Frodo will put on the ring, becoming invisible. This stage of the fight with Gollum will require you to use both hobbits. When Gollum attacks Frodo, jam on the button displayed to throw him off, then quickly switch to Sam and smack the greedy creature. Gollum will then hop on Sam's back, requiring another quick-time event to dislodge him.

The first time Sam gets thrown from the bridge, use the pieces on the broken pillar to build a platform to which he can jump and climb back up.

After the second round of fighting Gollum with Sam, he'll be thrown off to another pillar. Here, use the pieces to build a rope hook, then pull the broken pillar, with Sam on it, to the other side. Hop over and build another platform so you can climb back up to the bridge.

Fight Gollum off one more time and Sam will be thrown off the end of the bridge, with no way to climb back up. Switch to Frodo and build the invisible blocks near the edge. Once Sam is back on top, give Gollum his last bashing. Then sit back and enjoy the ending cut-scene.
