It's time to continue your arpeggio training. This second pattern will strengthen your dexterity and picking control. Once again, prepare to have Ben expand your musical world.

Arpeggio chord patterns replace strumming chord patterns. You pluck each note of the chord individually instead of strumming to achieve a different type of sound. This second pattern incorporates a combination of upstrokes and downstrokes (refer to the video above and the explanation below).G major picking pattern: Hold the G chord shape at the base of the neck and pick every other note from down to up alternating between downstrokes and upstrokes (down, up, down, up, etc.)C major picking pattern: Hold the C chord shape at the base of the neck and pick every other note from down to up alternating between downstrokes and upstrokes (down, up, down, up, etc.)
