That line from the Xe-A-Thouls is probably my favorite in the whole game. "We will mutilate and kill him with these very hands!"
That's something that never would have made it in a Super Nintendo game of that era. I find it very fitting for the trio. In a normal game they're not much of a threat but in a solo game they are a huge hurdle. I'm on my 8th solo character now and have enough experience with this fight to know that the eight losses the trio handed Rune are rather easy and brisk. One way or another the battle never lasts long. Someone wins quickly. Rune got to them at level 37 and got thoroughly wrecked for his trouble.
Oh and I guess I should say something about Lashiec. Uh, he likes his boom stick? And I used a sol dew at the end since I don't track enemy HP during the fight but it doesn't really bother me since Rune has to break 300 max hit points before trimates can start becoming obsolete. Start, mind you. It's not until the end of the game when they regularly heal for their full amount anyway.
