Wow, have i seriously not given you guys a longplay since the beginning of 2022? Jesus. Well, i thought since we're in the new year and i really do have a bunch of games i do want to longplay, i think it's only fitting that we go for something that ISN'T Phoenix Games or Data Design related.

Ladies and gentlemen, this is Cocoto. This is his first game, Platform Jumper. There's a few games that looks very much the same as this, to the point you could call them clones of this. Either way, this is how Cocoto started, created by BigBen Interactive and published by Neko Entertainment.

This game is obviously not a good game. There's 5 areas, each with 4 levels, a bonus level and a boss. They're all basically the exact same, with very similar enemies just reskinned. The main issue comes with controls, platforms and enemy placement. First, as you go along, they start making the platforms alot more skinny, where even using your bridge making ability, it's very easy to not only screw up and fall from trying to land on them, but also easy to just kinda... not be able to walk onto them, and just end up falling through the platform.

Another thing is the controls. If you jump while stationary, you cannot move. It isn't TOO much of a problem since you can move after you gain height, and you can jump and move at the same time so you can jump forward from the spot you're standing on, but it's still rather jank. Lastly is the enemy placement. The flying enemies can be annoying in spots because they home in on you when they see you and sometimes, they just kinda... stop and get stuck for a few seconds before proceeding to move? Meaning, you can't even hit them til they get close enough to you.

But it's the ground enemies that suck the most. The jumpers and the shooters. The devs may have known too well how easy it is to screw over the player with this guys, and yet they place them in spots where they can get in your way, they can shoot you down while you're trying to platform across, they can easily get the jump on you because they jump very far and stop right when you're right under them and if there's a split path sort of thing going on, the devs put enemies on BOTH sides, just to make it that little extra bit more annoying. They may even put enemies well out of the way, making it incredibly hard to even deal with them.

The later levels get the worst of it, and that is when i start losing lives, because the platforming. Another thing about jumping is that once you ARE moving in a direction, you don't stop. Yea, it's one of those, where if you want to land precisely, you kinda gotta wiggle a bit to get it. And with the platforms becoming smaller, that becomes a nightmare, so you'll see me die a few times, whether it be to enemies or to the controls and platforms.

The one saving grace is both your bridges AND your projectiles you can throw at enemies will take em out in one hit for the most part, so you can make it work still.

Btw, there's the bonus levels. I tried to do all 5 of them, but the 4th one is so poorly planned out and made, you can easily end up failing because they didn't account for both the platforms and for how long your wing powerup actually lasts. That ends up becoming reoccurring with this powerup. There's also 2 other powerups which one extends your bridges, but collect both and you can throw further too, which is VERY necessary if you wanna get the enemies. Btw, you need to defeat a certain number to get the bonus levels.

And then there's the bosses. They're all pushovers for the most part, though the last one can be annoying to hit them twice. Sometimes they have a gimmick that can be annoying or poor, but it doesn't take that much effort to figure it out. I also show off the multiplayer stuff after, of which they're rather similar, with a race to the top and a battle one. Last thing is the difficulty. If you go for anything except easy, the timer will make the water below rise and eventually, kill you. If it runs out on Easy, it doesn't do anything except not give you extra points.

Commentary track coming soon (yes this will come back i promise).

And that's it. Thanks for reading this novel of a description. This game isn't really good, but at least it's a short one. BigBen really did want this guy to be a thing though, as he has multiple other games though, including a racing game and a shooting game. Didn't go far, though. Probably for the best. Here's to 2024!
