This video shows how not to find someone in Sol Trader. One of the most difficult things to do in this game is find a particular person when you are not given the location or given a location that so vague you have no idea what or where it is.

I do complete the mission given to me, but because the target is a Freelance Trader, he could be anywhere floating around in space. This video does go through all the little tricks I use to find someone, so hopefully it will be useful to you.
