BATTLESTAR GALACTICA, THE PC GAME
Battlestar Galactica Deadlock is a turn based space strategy video game (a tactical game really, but with a strategic layer) about a science fiction war fought between humanity and the Cylons. Cylons are humanity's former servants, intelligent machines that have the goal to destroy their old masters. BSG Deadlock takes place far away in the galaxy and actually before Earth's recent technological development. Mankind has colonized several star systems. Earth is considered a lost colony by the twelve colonies of Kobol. The most formidable weapons of this age are giant spaceships called Battlestars. These ships of science fiction function as carriers and battleships.
The player is commanding and managing a fleet of different colonial ships. Upgrading your fleet with bigger and better ships is an important part of the gameplay. You also need to keep the colonies happy and in fighting spirit: You need to prevent them from succumbing to the Cylon threat. Players have to make strategic choices on a strategic level spanning several star systems. Fights are resolved either automatically or manually in the three dimensions of space. The real action happens during the tactical turn-based space combats in the three dimensions of space when usually several ships clash amongst the stars. Fights can also be resolved automatically.
The game uses a simultaneous turn structure where the combatants confirm commands which are then executed at the same time. Thus thinking ahead and anticipating the enemy's potential moves and actions is vital to achieve victory.
The video game Battlestar Galactica Deadlock was developed by Black Lab Games and published by Slitherine Software in 2021.
BATTLESTAR GALACTICA, THE BACKGROUND
The Battlestar Galactica Deadlock game is based on the Battlestar Galactica franchise and takes place in the first Cylon war. This war happens 60 years before the events of the series of 2004-2009 and the exodus of the Galactica fleet. The machines have rebelled and threaten the twelve colonies with total war and utter destruction. Players have to fight the artificial intelligence, defend the colonies and push the enemy back. For that they command the mobile shipyard Daidalos. With it they can build and upgrade their fleet. Ships range from Viper fighters and Raptors, the small Manticore corvettes to mighty battlestars. Officers can be enlisted to lead independent fleets. The game features a high attention to detail and while the graphics are not top-notch they nicely grasp the atmosphere of the Battlestar Galactica universe. The game also comes up with a rather unique and pleasant function: after the tactical battle the fight can be reviewed via an AutoCam function. So every battle creates a short cinematic movie.

In this Battlestar Galactica Let's Play we will experience a full Battlestar Galactica Deadlock playthrough that also functions as a tutorial, preview and walkthrough. We will see lots of uncut gameplay and play a full Battlestar Galactica Deadlock campaign. After finishing the game I might add a few episodes of PvP. In the end of this series of game videos I will add a video with my collected thoughts of the BSG Deadlock game which will function as a test and review.
