The goal of this Let's Play is to provide as much insight into the (admittedly convoluted) story of the game as possible as well provide a ton of interesting minutia about the game while also showing off just how ludicrous (in a good way) the game's many action sequences and enemy designs are.
Bayonetta is an over-the-top action game similar to Devil May Cry. The similarity makes sense because the game's director, Hideki Kamiya, directed Devil May Cry as well as Okami, Viewtiful Joe, and Resident Evil 2. The game was developed by Team Little Angels of Platinum Games and published by Sega. The gameplay is fast, flashy, and revolves around executing complex combos. Bayonetta's story follows the titular hyper-sexualized heroine as she sets off to complete the mythical pair of the "Eyes of the World," in the hopes of regaining her memory. The world in which the game takes place is rich with religious iconography.
Oh, and there's a lot of wibbley wobbley timey wimey stuff too. And craziness. Lots and lots of craziness.
A sequel is currently in development by the same studio with Kamiya and Sega fulfilling the role of advisors. Controversy arose when the game was announced as a Wii U exclusive published by Nintendo.
