Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare is a first-person shooter developed by Infinity Ward and published by Activision in 2007 for the PlayStation 3, Xbox 360 and Windows PC. It was later ported to Mac OS X (2008) and Wii (2009). A remastered version of the game was released in 2016 for PlayStation 4, Xbox One and Windows PC. The original PC release was used for this playthrough.
Modern Warfare is the fourth of 21 (to date) mainline Call of Duty games having been released from 2003 through 2024.
Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare sees the player control John "Soap" MacTavish of the SAS and Sgt. Paul Jackson of the U.S. Marine Corps 1st Force Recon Company. MacTavish is deployed to Russia and Eastern Europe to deal with a civil war in Russia between the government and an ultranationalist faction. Jackson is deployed to the Middle East to combat a coup in an unnamed country. The two seemingly separate conflicts intersect with explosive consequences.
