Let's play Eternal Doom (MAP12)
0Now, that's an epic map both in size, architecture and ideas!!!
It's an epic castle around water, took me almost an hour in this playthrough to beat (just imagine that) and there are a lot of challenges and a final yellow key where you have to raise a pilar by hunting for 8 yellow skull buttons. You will encounter the buttons scattered around from the beginning through the whole map, but they are deactivated (you can't press them) until you reach that final room where you have to run-jump over a platform (but don't do it early else you are gonna be stuck! (nasty, they don't tell you that). So,. after you press something to activate them in that room, you return back and you have to be aware that now those yellow buttons scattered around the level (and not the ones in this final room) are not activated. You have to remember where you found them and go back again and activate one after the other and they always spawn teleport monsters. Tough idea, but epic imho!
And the grandiose and architecture of this map is phenomenal! Both the enormous medieval areas and the sense of a far horizon of sea when looking outside. The central area with the big arches and the Cyberdemon fight on the top. A lot of the other rooms (and some nasty nasty traps where you drop in a pit and I died the first time). It's just mental! One of the epic gems of Eternal Doom (more to come!).
