Let's Play FEAR - Part 21 END
I am playing the PC version, you can buy the game here and it's expansions here: https://store.steampowered.com/app/21090/FEAR/
So what can I say about FEAR that hasn't been said already? If you've seen the entire playthrough or read about how great the game is over the years then I can definitely say that YES, it absolutely is that good without a doubt. While it's not perfect as it has some moments of naff here and there - the core gameplay experience is always so bloody strong and the meat of the combat against the (mostly) intelligent human AI opponents with the amazing weapons and slow mo action is what lets this game achieve so much greatness well over a decade after release, especially since the game still looks amazing to this day. Oh and it's story is pretty damn good even if it's delivered in a fairly iffy way.
Other FEAR games and expansions have came after but none of them (except arguably Extraction Point) can get close to how good the original FEAR truly is. It really is one of a kind and a beast of a shooter that utterly destroys the vast majority of modern shooters that came after it and it's sad to see developers completely ignore the lessons FEAR taught and this includes its very own sequels despite being great games in their own right.
While I can't compare it to other timeless classics such as Doom or Quake since their design philosophies are so different, FEAR is up there in that echelon of fantastic FPS games without a shadow of a doubt. So if you're looking for a modern style of semi-realistic, semi-arcade FPS games that constantly permeate the market nowadays then this is easily the best one I've ever played in my life. It takes the best mechanics and design philosophies from both old school and modern shooters and rolls with it and is a beautiful sight to behold - it's combat, much like Doom's, just never ever gets boring.
She called for him and he heard her cries – now he’s on a warpath to free her from the clutches of Armacham once and for all. Paxton Fettel, the powerful psychic commander of the replicas must be stopped for good and the only unit that can bring him down is F.E.A.R.: First Encounter Assault Recon to combat any and all paranormal/supernatural force that threatens all. And only one man can take point and bring Paxton and his clone army down the hard way.
