Let's Play Ghoul Panic Part 12 - Wrapping Up the Case Here in the Manor of Ghouls!
Entering what is no doubt a spooky follow-up to the classy arcade-shooter that was the Point Blank series, me and Jay go down nostalgic lane as we arm up and get psyched to blast away many a ghost in non-Ghostbuster fashion, except now in the world of 3D polygons that is Ghoul Panic!
Right at the finale of this Remix Arcade mode here, me and Jay finish things off by defeating Mama Mia once more except, unlike the first time in it's weaker state in the original Arcade whereby the PS1 hicked up for a second or the second time on Adventure Mode where it was all a solo effort on my part, here it's done properly with the two of us shooting and gunning in sync! (I took two hits and Jay failed to block a single attack before this video, right at the end of the last one, followed by us getting hit ANOTHER three times each before finishing off this reptilian monstrosity for good!)
With all that said, it's about damn time we saw the actual arcade ending, seeing how Adventure Mode's ending was never part of the arcades and was specifically designed for PS1 users in mind to experience, as we see what happens to all those dozens of yellow anime cats that just happened to have an element of 'human-ness' to them which, much like with the werecat gunners we both played as, turned out to be as such since upon escaping the Horror Mansion of many a ghost they quickly pop back into proper human beings, free of the curse from Witchina herself and her equally-monstrous family members! (Unlike with the other ending though, this one I already was familiar with back then, so it wasn't QUITE as surprising the first time way back when!)
Though putting aside that little surprise in the form of Witchina herself surviving the whole ordeal, this game shares what the original classic Light Gun Shooter for the PlayStation that is the Point Blank trilogy a fun little mechanic in that you are judged upon your overall performance throughout the whole arcade session, not in a manner like the Adventure Mode but rather basing it on your average throughout ALL of the challenges faced here, with those five parameters playing an important role in how you are ranked overall! (Intriguingly Jay seems to have scored just a tad better in the 'Speed' department than I did whilst we both scored around the same for the Accuracy field and the other three I managed to beat him by a fair stretch)
I suppose it's rather fitting then that, whilst I am by no means a god-tier or even semi-pro Light Gun shooter, the Rank B seems to fit my overall performance here to a T whilst my cousin only got a Rank C for his efforts, which isn't all that bad for somebody new to this type of game genre here! (I'll be damned if I see anybody on here getting the illustrious and most prestigious Rank S and Rank SS, but I also reckon my cousin could've done FAR worse by netting a poor Rank D or even an outright atrocious Rank E that only a literal toddler or somebody brand new to gaming who hasn't ever held a controller or knows the overall concept of what to do inside a video game could achieve!)
But yes, with all that said and done, that about wraps it up for our playthrough of Ghoul Panic here, also known as 'Oh! Bakyuun' over in the far eastern lands of Japan! It's certainly been an intriguing little ride here, going over those arcade shooters of old that were no doubt MASSIVELY popular back in the golden age of arcades during the 1980's and early 1990's when many a spare coin and change were consumed to keep you going for 'just one more live' and all!
Alas I was never around to experience the heyday of the arcades, so experiencing them on the consoles is all I've got as far as fond memories goes, but still it's a warm and enjoyable experience nevertheless in today's ever-shifting gaming world and all!
In any case, I hope you enjoyed the video and any constructive comments or criticism is appreciated!
