Speaking with Baloro again, trying to fight in the Old Camp arena, and finding a few more apples. One more apple and I can finally finish Baloro's quest. :/

Gothic, developed by Piranha Bytes and published by Egmont Interactive and CD Projekt in on March 15 and November 23, 2001, is a PC game created using the Gothic gaming engine.

Gothic is a fantasy RPG, played in 3OTS (third-person over-the-shoulder) perspective. Controls are either strictly keyboard or mouse and keyboard. The default controls are unusual compared to most games, so remapping the key bindings is highly recommended.

One of the biggest principles to understand when playing Gothic is the controls. Most (not all) actions are based on a "trigger" or "function" key that allow a variety of combinations to work. See my first 2 videos or this playlist's description for examples.

The king has defeated all foes but the Orcs, who are still at war with his kingdom. The toll has been so costly that there aren't enough citizens willing to work in the mines of Korinus to give him the ore he needs for equipment. Convicts (of even minor crimes) are sent into the mines to work, which have been sealed off by a magical shield. The magic was interfered with, however, and the mages casting the shield were themselves trapped.

As the Nameless Hero (the typical name for all Piranha Bytes games), you are sent into the mines with a message to deliver the mages. You need to find your way around, choose a side, and get the message delivered. After that, the story unfolds, taking new paths!

CHANGING RESOLUTION:
Often when trying to change to a higher resolution from the game menu, an error can occur: "Cannot create D3DX Context ! Error." If you see this, the solution I found was to manually go to where you've installed Gothic, then open the System folder within the Gothic folder. Find Gothic.ini, right-click on it, and choose Properties. Once the Properties are displayed, go to the Security tab and select the User entry from the list that matches your Windows username. Make sure you have all permissions checked and click Apply. Now open Gothic.ini in an editor (like Notepad) and adjust the following lines to your desired resolution. For 1280 × 720, it would look like this (without the * symbols):
* zVidResFullscreenX=1280
* zVidResFullscreenY=720
* zVidResFullscreenBPP=32

Save the file after editing it, close everything, and restart the game again. You should have whatever setting you put in the above lines. If you try a setting that does NOT work, just change the lines in Gothic.ini again until you find a setting that DOES work.
