Let’s Play Guacamelee! 2 (Blind) - Episode 2: Where the New Meets the Old
One thing I love about “Guacameele! 2” is how it’s one of those sequels that strikes a good balance between the old and the new. If you pick up “Guacameele! 2” and have played the original (which you should because it’s a great game in of itself), you’ll feel right at home and feel that you’re playing in the same world as the previous game- familiar places, familiar faces, familiar moves, etc. However, unlike a lot of sequels that more or less feel like a slightly modified copy of the original, “Guacameele! 2” differentiates itself from the first game by building upon the groundwork established by its predecessor by adding new locations and characters, thereby helping to make feel alive in a sense, and new moves that allow Juan to do things that would have been impossible in the last game. For example, while Uay Chivo plays a major role in plot again, the game expands upon his character by giving him the assistance of an interdimensional group of himself- basically, the Council of Ricks from “Rick and Morty”, only with less science and sociopathy and more complaining about broken statues and hitting on single moms. Furthermore, while we get the Rooster Uppercut, a move that served us very well in the last game, we also get a new one in the form of the Eagle Boost, which shows that the developers must have enjoyed playing “Specter of Torment”.
