All my exaggerated grousing about the railroaded romance aside, this is still not a high point of the game. There are a lot of reasons Lilly was the better choice of romance partner for the hero instead of the princess. Lilly and Will share some common background, Lilly is a more competent(okay, presumably more competent) adventurer, and everything done to Kara to make her compatible with Will feels overwhelmingly forced.
I'll go into where I'd have liked to see them really go with everything towards the end, but there are going to be a bunch of moments in the future that just make me think Lilly would have been a much more natural fit.
