Seriously, there is no reason to not be Freedan if you don't specifically need Will for something. The game knows this, and is more than happy to make you need Will to solve a puzzle here or there, so there will be points where you have to decide if you don't mind backtracking a ways so you can clear out a zone with Freedan, or if you just want to get it over with and fight with Will so you can get through a place quicker.
