We are experimenting in Stage 2. We buy the Diamond Sword to demonstrate what it looks like, we show off secret rooms and the Familiar Spell once again, but we have trouble activating the Waterspout Spell: Sometimes, after getting the spell, it mysteriously vanishes from your inventory. Perhaps if you accidentally leave the room, even if it is only for one second and only a secret room, it seems like you lose the spell.
