I guess Kaim's real problem is people just feel the need to tell him all this terrible stuff that happened to them. Well, in his memories anyway. It doesn't seem to happen in-game. Do you suppose this is confirmation bias and he always remembers people telling him about dead children, when in fact most people he has met over the centuries never discussed dead children with him? Also - cube music is stupid.
