Fun battles with enemy wizards, dealing with them early shortens the length of the level (as seen in video, there were 3 enemy wizards dead, probably due to a whirlwind or a tremor landscape spell. I ran to their castles, destroyed those and therefore banished some of them.

Yep, that's the way to get rid of an enemy wizard, kill him or have someone else do it, monsters or other wizards, and then destroy his castle.
If you can't do that in the early stages of the level (maybe because you want to enjoy the mana farming), just build your own castle big enough to have meteor 1 or 2, or better lightning 2 or 3 (fireball 3 is too costly, requires a castle level 5 or 6), go to the enemy castle, break it almost totally down, and capture all his mana orbs. If you do that good, the enemy wizard won't be able to restore his castle at the previous level, because of his mana pool decrease. If you destroy a castle totally while the owner wizard is still alive, he will just cast his castle right at the spot where that wizard will be. Therefore, if you keep an eye out to avoid the total destruction of a castle, you may force him to spend more time to pursue you, while you will have more time to capture his mana and cripple him more efficiently.
