1Prototype 2 is a continuation of an open-world arcade game released in 2009. This time we play a new character - James Heller, who lost his wife and child as a result of the epidemic. According to the former soldier, the person responsible for this state of affairs is the hero of the first part, Alex Mercer. This one, it is worth recalling, was one of the few people whose plague - which makes Zaire hemorrhagic fever a small beer - changed and gave the power to consciously change your own body while maintaining clarity of mind. Mercer's actions in the first part caused the whole of Manhattan to be engulfed in plague. The action of the second part takes place fourteen months later. New York has been divided into zones - infected, transitional and virus-free. The gameplay boils down to exploring New York and following threads related to the plague. We usually obtain new information by using James' characteristic ability - absorbing people and taking their form. Heller develops his skills over time, preparing for a confrontation with the enemy, from whom he received access to mutagenic powers.
The plot structure and character development have changed. Radical studio focused primarily on fluidity and - if you can talk about it - realism of the game. In Prototype 2, we do not find quests detached from the plot, in everything we do, even if they are additional quests, there are story-related information. Initially, we follow the effects of a small event in the zone guarded by Blackwatch, but discovering the numerous evil deeds of this organization, we get involved in an ever-increasing intrigue. The hero, by completing subsequent tasks, collects experience, which, as before, is exchanged for various powers. In terms of graphics and sound, Prototype 2 is not a big step forward compared to its predecessor. Despite this, all elements from animation through textures have been refined and improved, thanks to which the game on not new hardware looks phenomenal. The changed combat mechanics - one of the main problems of the first part - makes the events on the screen more spectacular and we have more control over their course. The menagerie we face has expanded, new opponents are introduced gradually during the game and often the sight of them can really surprise.
