17This is an interesting game right here, Mike Edwards' REALM OF IMPOSSIBILITY. It's a frantic-paced game in which zombies, spiders and other crazy critters chase. Come watch me play it live. Last time I tried it I beat the easiest difficulty, but not the next level up. My goal for tonight is to beat both, then probably fail at the third level. :D
A truly unique quality of this game is that while you are being chased by all these monsters, you can't actually fight them! All you can do is run like the dickens, and block them from following you dropping crosses in your wake.
This game was originally released under the title of ZOMBIES by the small company BRAM in 1983. About a year later, EA republished it, renaming the game, added a snappy new title screen tune, and otherwise polished it up. I don't know all of the changes but I think they might've added levels? Don't quote me on that. :)
My personal hot take as a bit of a zombie fiction geek: this game may be one of the first instances of sprinting zombies among all types of media!
This is one of my favorite games of the 8-bit computer era, by the way!
