Continuing on from the previous part, I once again battle the masked man.
With my monsters backing me up, I manage to get through the first phase of this battle.
Before the second phase starts, the masked man loses his mask, which reveals that the wind spirit priestess whose body he has possessed is none other than... (SPOILERS!) Sonja! (It was kind of obvious during the first half of the fight, but still! Plot twist!)
The masked man (Can he even be called that now without the mask?) then goes on to explain how we were summoned to this world from 200 years in the past.
The failed summoning ritual that we did a while back is brought up as well, which kind of confuses me due to that happening a long time after they had already shown up in this world!
Confusing time stuff aside, the masked man offers to send us back to our original world while commenting on how we've been trying to save a world we don't even belong to.
Aden and Sonja decline this offer, obviously, and the final battle against the masked man continues.
It is in this part of the fight where I get my ass kicked!
But luckily for me, this is the part of the fight where many of the characters that have maxed out friendships show up to cheer us on. (They don't show up in the battle itself, obviously! And the only ones who show up are friends that are the same age as Aden and Sonja, plus the goblin pirate captain.)
Along with reviving us by cheering us on, every character that appears here will give you an extra life in this battle! (The goblin pirate captain will always show up to give you at least one extra life for this final boss fight.)
So with every character who can appear here having maxed out friendship, I have more than enough extra lives to defeat the masked man!
After a lengthy scene where everyone cheers us on, we are revived by the power of friendship, and the final battle continues.
In this final battle, the masked man brings in a new attack here that pretty much one shots you if you don't have an extra life left! (He also makes two clones that get in the way!)
But with all the extra lives I got from the friendships formed with the residents of fenith island, plus the goblin pirate captain, and with my monsters there to back me up, I am eventually able to defeat the masked man once and for all!
In defeat, the masked man is shocked and frustrated.
Before he seemingly leaves Sonja's body, he states that we were brought here by a force that we could never be able to understand, and that this force is using us. (This part of the story confuses me as I'm not sure if it ever gets explained what or who he is talking about!)
With the masked man now gone, Aden rushes over to catch Sonja's body from falling. (Sonja's body must be aching after that fight!)
While the final battle is now over, getting back to the ground in one piece proves to be a problem!
As we fall down from the sky with Sonja's body in our arms, Aden and Sonja comment that, even though they are going to die, at least they managed to save the world.
But of course, this isn't how this story ends!
Rather than falling to their death, Aden and Sonja are protected by spirits that slowly lower them to the ground.
How did these spirits get here? Well they seem to have been sent up to bring us down via the medium of song!
What do I mean by that? Well the three sisters, and possibly the other characters that appeared during the final battle, (Minus the goblin pirate captain who wasn't there with them!) sing the spirit song to get the spirits to lower us carefully to the ground.
As we are slowly lowered to the ground, the credits roll.
After the credits end, we get a scene where Fangord thanks us for defeating the legendary golem and the masked man.
While he can't figure out just yet how to get Sonja back into her body, he will find a way to do it in time.
The three sisters are also in this scene, and Violet asks if we will be returning to our original world.
Aden reassures Violet and everyone else by saying that he and Sonja will be staying for a while longer. (He should have said that they will be staying there forever, seeing as I can't imagine them wanting to leave this world after everything that has happened!)
And so with that, the main story finally ends, and the post game begins!
Before saving the game, I check on Sonja, or rather, Sonja's body that is being kept at the church.
Until Fangord finds a way to transfer Sonja's soul back into her body, this is where her body will be for now.
One other thing to note is that Ecco (The golem) has disappeared! But worry not, for it is clearly obvious that he will eventually return at some point! (Would be kind of pointless to have a post game if you can't even travel across the ocean anymore!)
