Having played both the original Shadow Hearts and Covenant on the channel, along with co-hosting a playthrough with our friend Ace_Zappa, it's time to conclude the Shadow Hearts series with the third entry in the series (well fourth if you count Koudelka, a game I will be playing later). I personally think that Covenant might be one of the greatest RPGs of all time, but never played From the New World as I was told not to due to it not being like the other two. Is this another Chrono Cross effect game? Where the sequel is derided due to it not being quite like the originals but is actually deceptively good? Only one way to find out...

🐧 About #shadowhearts 3 From the New World (from the fandom page): The game series departs from Eurasia and takes place in the Americas. While it is not directly related to the previous games in the series, it occurs in the same world, with old characters making cameos. The main characters' quest is to investigate mysterious "windows" from which vicious monsters emerge.
While some may argue that From The New World is closer to a spinoff than to a sequel, it is important to notice that the game has several links with the previous games.
🐧 Reviews: The game received a somewhat weaker reception than Shadow Hearts: Covenant, though it was still, for the most part, positive. According to review aggregator Metacritic the game averaged 76 in reviews. Some reviews:
85% Deeko: The latest installment in the Shadow Hearts series will have fans of the first two clamoring for more. Those just joining the series, prepare for a RPG unlike anything you have ever played before.
70% Official US Playstation: After low sales killed Midway's interest in the series, it was unknown if "Shadow Hearts" would continue in the U.S.--but Xseed has picked up the torch, and, on balance, it's clear that the company has made a good move.
9/10 Dimordimon: Love it. Always a nice refresher from the edgy over the top triple a “jrpg” experiences of today. Just a fun game that wants to be fun and knows how to do combat well.
