Let's Play Shadow Warrior - Xbox One Gameplay
1,067The original Shadow Warrior was a 1997 first-person shooter from 3D Realms that did for racism what Duke Nukem 3D did for sexism - that is, contained lots of it. This Shadow Warrior reboots that game, promising to bring it up to date while maintaining the feel of an old-school shooter. The main character is still called Lo Wang, but what are you going to do? You don’t mess with a classic joke like that. Discover what has changed as we play Shadow Warrior on Xbox One.
The game begins with Lo Wang (still funny!) attempting to purchase an ancient katana from a shady collector.
When the deal goes sour, it all turns a bit Kill Bill, in that everyone gets their limbs lopped off. Lo Wang then aligns himself with a masked demon named Hoji who amplifies his ki, which gives him access to supernaturally powerful sword attacks.
The swordplay is gruesome but otherwise unremarkable, while retro racism does takes a backseat to eye-catching Japanese set dressing.
