Let's Play Shenmue in HD!! Part 1
2I have a special treat to all you SEGA fans today, on this Friday the 13th! Drumroll, please? No? Oh well, we can do without it. Anyway, I present to you...Shenmue! In HD (I hope)!
How did I make a 13-year-old Dreamcast game in HD? Simply put, I bought the game off of Amazon and cherished the almost timeless wonder for one summer. Then, I decided, "Hey! Let's play Shenmue!" Unfornately, I don't know how to record games with the ol' DVR, so I decided instead to use nullDC--which, because it doesn't work with Dreamcast GD-ROMs, I only use to it record games--and I only download games I already have. Finally, I use an unregistered FRAPS, simply because my computer can't seem to handle massive movie files. Then comes the editing part! Using an HD video editor--in my case, Adobe Premier Elements--I smooth out the awkward cuts created by recording in 30-second intervals and add anti-aliasing to smooth out the image even more, and then I'm done! If that's not simple enough for you, then...I don't know what to say. Obviously, these results take a bit of work to achieve
Hopefully, should the Shenmue HD rumors prove to be true, SEGA will achieve the same effect for future generations to enjoy. Shenmue is one of the greatest games of our time and I hope that it will achieve the success it deserves.
